Braids

Braids are the most versatile hairstyles ever. From the ever-trendy box braids to the simplest cornrows, braids feature a wide range of styles that can be worn for any occasion; whether you're going to the gym, office, or attending a wedding, there is a braid style for every event.

Asides from making you look your best, braids are great protective hairstyles. They protect your hair strands from breakage and keep your ends tucked away, so they get tangled or split. With the endless variations of braids, this style can be done across different hair textures.

Knotless braids

This braid style is also known as knotless box braids, no-knot braids, and feed-in braids. They are similar to the traditional box braids. In box braids, a knot is formed at the base of the braid where the hair is secured tightly to the scalp. This knot is absent in the knotless braid, hence the name.

With this style, the braid is started with your own hair, and the stylist feeds in the hair extension at intervals. Knotless braids are painless and light. They flow like real hair so you can enjoy doing your hair flips. Given the method the hair extension is added, knotless braids take a little longer to install and cost a little more than box braids.

These braids are perfect for people with fine hair, but anyone can rock it. Knotless first came out in the early 2000s but made a comeback.

Half-up Half-down

Just like braids, the half-up-half-down have different variations but let's focus on the most popular two. The first variation features several cornrows on the top half of your head while the hair on the lower part of your head is done into box braids. The ends of the cornrows are secured into a bun at the top of your head.

The second variation of the half-up-half-down braids is the same as the first, the only difference being that the ends of the cornrows and the lower half of the hair are curled instead of braided.

Fulani braids

Fulani braids originated from the Fulani ethnic group, which is scattered throughout several countries in West Africa like Nigeria, Cameroon, Senegal, Mali, etc.
There are various styles of Fulani braids; these styles bear similar patterns like a cornrow down the center of your head, a braid wrapped around your hairline, one or two cornrows braided towards your face just near your ears.

They also incorporate the use of beads, gold hoops, and double layering.

Braids with beads

These are usually hip-length box braids with several beads at the end of each braid. The width of these braids is generally medium to chunky. Due to the length and weight, these braids are done scantily.
